How Illegal Immigration Affects the US Economy

The effect of the rising illegal immigrant population in the US will take several years to mend. This is a valid reason to push for an immigration reform now. It is a good motivation that this action is badly needed by the country. The 12 million illegal immigrants are costing billions of citizen dollars year after year. This is one of the strongest points anti-illegal immigrant groups and individuals are fighting for.
Children of illegal immigrants born in the US automatically acquire US citizenship. The parents, with unstable means of living also become liabilities to the country. The need to help them falls to the shoulders of the citizens by consuming hard-earned tax money. In the on-going global economic recession, not so many citizens are finding it hard to sustain themselves. They need their rightful benefits but are also competing with the illegal immigrants in terms of healthcare benefits and employment opportunities.
Immigration reform speaks of many proposed ways to augment the current inefficient laws being implemented. Coming up with solid, just and fair resolutions are in dire need to alleviate the plunging condition of all the citizens of the country. If an effective and comprehensive immigration reform is passed, the ultimate beneficiary of it will be the country’s economy.
